Corbelling

Corbelling is the original method of making arches: a series of stones or bricks that protrude beyond the lower level forming either an arch or a support for a conice, ledge, tourelle or bridge. A corbel course is a string of projecting stones making a continuous molding. See also corbel. and corbel table.
